HTML Site Map
What is the HTML Site Map used for?
When a visitor utilizes the search function on the site, if no results are found, the WordPress default is to notify the visitor that nothing was found for the search query. This can make a visitor feel that he is lost in a maze of content. An HTML site map can give the visitor a road map to assist in what they are searching for.
Prebuilt Elements and Components: The site map was built as a function. The site pages/posts are sent to a twig template, where instead on rendering the output, the output is complied and stored in the cache. The output is then displayed on the condition that no criteria matched the query. This stops repetitive database queries, which in turn saves resource usage and keeps the page optimized.
Admin Interface: The site map function is enabled in the admin console. The settings will exclude post types that are not selected and individual pages excluded.
